BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS AT CLUB OLD BAR
Club Old Bar was extremely proud to host the 2025 Coastline Bank MidCoast Business Awards with a beautiful Winter Wonderland theme.
Our amazing catering staff served over 230 guests a delicious 3 course meal while our bar superstars were shaking cocktails and pouring wines throughout the night. We are so appreciative of the Forster Tuncurry Business Chamber for giving our Club the opportunity to host this special event and show off what we can do on a large scale. They really put on an amazing event!
A big congratulations to all award nominees and winners, and a massive thank you to our Functions Manager Sharon Osborn, who goes above and beyond to make sure events at the Club run seamlessly and professionally.
Club Old Bar really shone on this special night, and it was a testiment to what our amazing venue, and staff can do!

70 YEARS OF TAREE WEST BOWLING CLUB
Club West celebrated their 70th anniversary with a game of bowls and dinner at the Club on Saturday 6 September. It was a great night of fellowship, memories and laughs- celebrating both the Club as a whole and the bowlers both present and past. Thank you to everyone who supported the event, and those who have supported the Club over all these years. See you all for the 80th - Congratulations Club West and the event organising committee.
STRATEGIC PLAN
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the 2025-2030 Old Bar Beach Bowling Club Ltd Strategic Plan was adpoted by the Board on 24 June 2025. The opportunity has been taken to comprehensively review the previous plan, with external consultants Tully & Heard Pty Ltd assisting the Board and Senior Management in this process. The Strategic Plan includes 5 year budget predictions, a break down of Key Focus Areas, and a Forward Works Schedule for Club Old Bar, Club West, Club Old Bar Motel and the future. If you would like to view our Strategic Plan it is available on our websites, or hardcopies are also available at Club Old Bar and Club West on request.
SUPPORTING OUR FARMERS WITH COWS, SCHOONERS & COFFEES
Club Old Bar and Club West are proud to be participating in the Farmers Support Fundraiser, a regional initiative supporting our local dairy farmers who were hit hard by the recent devastating floods across the Manning, Macleay and Hastings areas. In partnership with Clubs NSW and the Mid Coast Dairy Advancement Group Inc, this campaign runs from 1st July to 31st October 2025 and aims to raise vital funds for farmers in need- many of whom supply a quarter of NSW’s milk.
A portion of every schooner and coffee sold at our Clubs during the campaign will go directly to the recovery fund. You can also purchase a 'cow’ for $50 at the bar, which will be displayed at the Club with your name on it, plus there are donation tins at both bars for those who’d like to contribute further. Thank you to all who have donated so far!

We would like to let our members know that Jan Wallace has stepped down from the Board of Old Bar Beach Bowling Club Ltd. Jan has been an active and dedicated board member whose passion for our Clubs and community has been evident in everything she did. From leading the much-loved Christmas Wishing Tree, to driving the Rookie Rollers program, and championing many community-focused activities, Jan’s contribution has been commendable. We thank her sincerely for her time, energy, and commitment, and wish her all the very best for the future.
WELCOME TO THE BOARD KERRY TURNER
We are delighted to welcome Kerry Turner to the Board. Kerry holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Newcastle University and brings extensive experience in accounting and financial management, having worked with chartered accountancy firms and in senior roles within the mining industry, overseeing multi-million dollar budgets and large teams. Since moving to Old Bar in 2014, Kerry has been an active contributor to our community, serving as Treasurer and President across several local commitees, including Old Bar Community Preschool and Old Bar Public School P&C. She currently works as a financial accountant for a local not-for-profit organisation and is passionate about supporting the continued growth and diversity of our Clubs. Kerry looks forward to bringing her skills, expertise and community spirit to the Board.
BOWLS NSW WOMENS CARNIVAL
We are delighted to share that Bowls NSW and MidCoast Council have entered into a joint agreement that will see the NSW Women’s State Carnival return to the Manning Great Lakes and Barrington Coast region for the next three years (2026–2028). This is fantastic news for our community, with the 2026 Carnival once again being proudly co-hosted by Club Old Bar and Club West in early May2026. The Carnival is one of the most prestigious women’s bowls events on the State calendar, attracting more than 500 of the best female bowlers from across New South Wales. Our Clubs have been honoured to host this premier event in both 2024 and 2025, and we are thrilled to continue welcoming competitors, supporters, and visitors to our region.
UPDATE ON OUR CEO
We would like to extend our warmest well wishes to our CEO, Nicole Mullen, following her recent heart operation at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are pleased to share that Nicole is recovering well and is in great spirits. On behalf of the Staff, Management, Board, and Members, we send Nicole our support and look forward to welcoming her back at the end of September.
NEW UNDERCOVER WALKWAYS - CLUB OLD BAR AND CLUB WEST
Works are continuing at both Clubs, with the new bowls lockers completed at Club Old Bar which are now open and being used by our Bowls Members. External painting works continue at Club Old Bar, giving a nice fresh look, and both Clubs have recently had undercover walkways installed- which also provide shelter to our bowlers on hot or rainy days. We are excited to continue investing in and improving our wonderful Club facilities.
